New Asphalt

Give your home or business a makeover with new asphalt. Whether you want to repave your driveway, create a sparkling new tennis court in your backyard, or spruce up a parking area, asphalt paving is the way to go.

New asphalt construction employs an engineered blend of aggregate (stones and sand) and liquid asphalt cement (a refined petroleum product), where varying sizes of aggregates are heated then mixed with liquefied asphalt cement. This mixture is kept hot during transport by truck, delivered to your property and placed atop a prepared base or subgrade. Once the compaction process is completed by an asphalt roller machine, the mixture cools and hardens so that you can drive and park on it soon thereafter.

Your driveway or parking lot creates a significant first impression about your home or business. Aside from the amenity offered by a well-paved surface, "curb appeal" is enhanced and value is added to your property. With proper planning and attention to quality, your investment in an asphalt surface will provide years of lasting service. Benefits of New Asphalt Paving

Asphalt pavements offer an abundance of benefits over most other options, even those that are more expensive. It provides a strong, durable, smooth and continuous surface. Engineered to withstand freezing and thawing, asphalt pavements are designed to flex under loads and slight shifting or settlement of ground layers. Asphalt is also impervious to salt, so the effects of winter maintenance will be less pronounced. Repairs on asphalt are easier to perform should they become necessary, and will visually blend with the remaining surface better than on alternate materials such as concrete.

The Importance of Site Preparation

Site preparation involves excavation of the area to be paved, followed by the addition and compaction of Class 5 gravel to industry specifications. Laser leveling technology is employed to optimize grade, slope and other alignments, and to facilitate proper drainage. Once the site is ready, paving with asphalt follows. In many cases a four-inch thickness may be adequate, but if a full-depth asphalt surface is being constructed, the space is built entirely of asphalt paving mixture - from the soil subgrade up. In such cases, topsoil containing clay must be removed or replaced, which can be done using compacted aggregate, or gravel. Stabilization of the subgrade will provide a solid foundation for the asphalt above and keep water out of the pavement. Full-depth asphalt provides a better balance of strength, flexibility and durability than any other material.

The depth and composition of subgrade levels as well as the asphalt layer itself may vary from application to application. Our expert teams will assess the specific requirements of every job site, providing the optimal solution for each. Durability and ease of maintenance are inherent properties of all new asphalt construction, and its aesthetic elements will compliment any residential or commercial property.
